Virtual GDS

Virtual GDS is a standalone educational simulation of Amadeus, Apollo, Galileo, Sabre, Worldspan, or Abacus, enabling students to book, store, modify, and ticket reservations using any computer or work station. All records created by students are kept in storage until the instructor chooses to delete them. Entry formats and responses are identical to those of the simulated reservation system.

Used in conjunction with the exercises provided, the simulation environment provides an accurate, interactive learning system for automated reservations and ticketing. Instructors may use the exercises without modification, adapt them to their individual requirements, or design new exercises using the samples as a guide. A database of sample flight schedules and fares enables students to obtain flight availability and fare displays. The simulator can be used to create PNRs containing passenger names, phones, ticketing data, and received-from items. Optional fields include SSR, OSI, remarks, address, and form of payment fields.

Students' PNRs can be stored anywhere on the system, from a hard disk to a CD or USB flash drive. Students can cancel, rebook, and insert segments; change or delete passenger data; change segment status; and obtain fare quotes. Queue, seat assignment, and client profile functions are also provided. Simulated e-ticket/receipts can be produced using any type of printer. Students can display car availability and rates, sell car segments, display hotel availability, obtain property descriptions, and sell hotel segments.

An easy-to-use instructor's toolbox provides numerous tools for customizing the working database. With this module, the instructor can set or change student passcodes, list, add, or edit city pairs; list, add, or edit fares; and delete PNRs created by students.
